• the City Garage for picking up the large pile of limbs so quickly.

• the person who stopped far enough behind our motorcycle that they didn’t hit us when they were rear-ended in backed-up traffic on Third Street Sunday morning.

• 2008 Columbus North graduate Tyler Duncan for qualifying again for the U.S. Open golf tournament.

• neighbor Dan Meister, and his helpers Kira and Case, for cutting up and cleaning up the tree that fell across my driveway.

• Troy Love, a great human being and a great police officer, on his retirement.

• Vicki and Tim Huston for being great neighbors and bringing us a delicious beach dinner, from the Schroeders and Emma.

• my neighbor, Leann, for being concerned and notifying me about the broken limb in my tree, from Barbara.

• the lady in the blue Dodge van at the west-side McDonald’s who paid for my breakfast in the drive-thru line.

• good parents aware of their teenagers’ social activities and choice of friends.

• those who think their religious rights are more important than my civil rights.

• the organization that doubles the maximum late fee, uses a collection agency and tries to pass it off as being helpful to the community.

• the woman driving the Suburban who never looked when crossing from the right lane into the left-turn lane in Edinburgh on Saturday evening, because we were nearly run over on our motorcycle.

• the “Close to Home” cartoon in Monday’s paper for being terribly inappropriate.
