Columbus suffered through its hottest weather in two years with high temperatures ranging from 90 to 95 degrees for a three-day period. Only three 90-degree days were recorded all summer in 1992 and the high was 91 degrees on Aug. 10.

Barbers in Columbus increased the price of a haircut by 25 cents, to $2.25 for “regular” haircuts, $2.50 for “flat tops and $2 for children under 13.
