• residents who think for themselves.

• those wise enough to realize that God does not put a thumb on the scale of U.S. presidential elections to suit partisanship.

• Mary Lloyd for your prayers and support and for making Rachel the delicious Bundt cake, from the Allens.

• the woman in the white Buick who paid for my food at Steak ‘n Shake on Wednesday.

• Peter and his family for helping to get Lilly home after she ran away.

• Sandi Greiwe for your great service to the Hope community at the post office, and happy retirement, from Kim.

• John Krull for his column in Thursday’s paper, which everyone should read and heed.

Onions to …

• the House Republicans for not passing a Trump-supported immigration bill in spite of having a majority of seats.

• those who complain about liberals and the way they do things; if God did not want them to serve as a conscience for conservatives, they would not be there.

• the person that thinks God chooses our president.

• county officials for dismissing the veterans officer, who helped people out.

• people who think children born in this country do not suffer.

• family members who invite you to graduations, marriages and wedding showers, but never send thank-you cards for gifts.
