Bartholomew County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Hope woman on drug-related charges after stopping her vehicle because she did not have a valid driver’s license.
Deputy Brent Worman saw the vehicle traveling south on East State Road 46 make an abrupt turn west on to East county Road 100N at 12:18 p.m. Tuesday, deputies said.
The vehicle then turned into a driveway at a residence on the south side of the road, deputies said. Deputies verified the vehicle did not belong at the residence and the driver, identified as Meredith Garris, 46, Hope, did not have a valid driver’s license, deputies said.
During the investigation, officers found methamphetamine and paraphernalia when searching the vehicle, deputies said.
Garris was arrested on preliminary charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of paraphernalia, jail officials said.
