COLUMBUS, Ind. — An adult male was shot multiple times Sunday afternoon inside an apartment at Quail Run Apartments, said Columbus police, who have a suspect is in custody..

The shooting was reported at 2:22 p.m. Sunday inside the apartment building at 1085 Robert Drive, said Sgt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.

An individual took the shooting suspect to Columbus Regional Hospital, about six blocks north of where the man was shot, before an ambulance could arrive, Harris said.

From Columbus Regional, the shooting victim was transported by medical helicopter to Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, Harris said.

The victim’s age, address and condition were not immediately known, he said.

The suspect was described by Harris as an adult male. No other information about the suspect was immediately available.

Columbus Police Department detectives were processing the scene Sunday afternoon as they worked to determine a motive, Harris said.

Quail Run Apartments, which consists of about 16 buildings, is located north of 10th Street between North Gladstone Avenue and McClure Road.
