A local man was arrested after he was accused of driving his car on to the concrete median on 25th Street.
Columbus police were sent to 25th Street and Marr Road at 4:45 a.m. Saturday after a witness said her vehicle was nearly hit by the driver who went on to the median, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.
When officers arrived, they identified the driver of the vehicle on the median as Jeffrey J. Sullivan, 56, Columbus, Harris said. When speaking with Sullivan, officers noted a strong odor of alcoholic beverage on his breath and Sullivan later failed several field sobriety exercises.
Sullivan was taken to Columbus Regional Hospital for a blood draw and was later placed under arrest, Harris said. When Sullivan was taken to the Bartholomew County Jail, officers found drug paraphernalia and marijuana in his pants pockets, Harris said.
Sullivan was arrested on preliminary charges of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana, jail officials said.
