• Columbus Regional Hospital for the delicious food during my stay and wonderful service staff.

• First Christian Church for hosting the South Central Indiana Christian Men’s Fellowship, and the Rev. Michael Wall of Hibernia Christian Church for delivering a good sermon.

• East Columbus United Methodist Church for hosting a wonderful men’s breakfast last Saturday.

• the staff at The Republic for their hard work daily to see that we have news every morning.

• Mr. and Mrs. Allen Dillman for helping a person with an ice cream bucket.

• the Verizon store for supplying free backpacks to school children Sunday, as it was a fun event for all.

• the people who take good and proper care of their pets in this humid, hot weather.

• DJ Fat Mac for the great job keeping the crowds entertained at the Verizon store backpack giveaway.

• mature adults who are able to make it through the day without tweeting every impulsive thought that crosses their minds.

• the red/silver Ford truck driver displaying the American flags, from Sandra Retz.

Onions to …

• mothers who do not call their sons to wish them happy birthday.

• the trucks intentionally running the red lights for construction on State Road 9 Tuesday morning.

• the driver of the silver Kia van who was darting in front of other vehicles about 9:45 a.m. Monday without using a turn signal, nearly causing an accident.

• the person who thinks “losing the lottery” (being born a female in a foreign land) gives them the right to disobey U.S. laws, because Theodore Roosevelt said it best: “No man is above the law and no man is below it, nor do we ask any man’s permission when we ask him to obey it.”
