FFY teens to perform ‘We Know’ about opioid abuse prevention

Foundation for Youth teens will perform a theatrical presentation this weekend entitled “We Know” to talk about opioid abuse prevention.

Funded through a Project Prevent grant from the Alliance for Substance Abuse Progress in Bartholomew County, the presentation will be at 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Central Middle School’s Grey Boy Theatre, 725 Seventh St.

Project Prevent is a grant program of the Heritage Fund — The Community Foundation of Bartholomew County and ASAP, made possible by the Mark and Wendy Elwood Substance Abuse Prevention Fund. Grants from the fund are targeted to programming to spread knowledge appropriate uses of opioids and the dangers of misuse.

During Foundation for Youth’s summer programming, Project Prevent brought in artists and other professionals to work with teens to produce projects, including this theatrical performance, to help participants express themselves artistically while learning about opioids and addiction prevention.

Among the other projects at FFY were helping students develop podcasts and murals focused on ASAP’s “We Know, We Can” themed message.

The Saturday presentation is free and open to the public. Parents are encouraged to attend with their children.
