Wildlife refuge offering ice cream social

The Big Oaks Conservation Society and Big Oaks National Wildlife Refuge will have an old-fashioned ice cream social at 5 p.m. Aug. 6 at the historic Oakdale Schoolhouse, a one room stone building built in 1869, at the wildlife refuge, 1661 W. Jpg Niblo Road, Madison.

The event will begin with short walking tours and short van tours of Big Oaks National Wildlife Refuge before the serving of dessert.

The school will be open for tours and viewing. Signs will direct visitors to Oakdale Schoolhouse, which is located on Paper Mill Road (Morgan Road on the refuge).
