Madison man dies in accident near Hanover

HANOVER — A Madison man died in a two-vehicle accident on State Road 56 near Hanover at 7:25 a.m. Tuesday, Indiana State Police said.

A 2003 Honda van driven by Miko D. McRoy, 41, Seymour, was traveling east on State Road 56 near Amber Waves Boulevard, said Trooper Matt Holley.

McRoy’s vehicle struck a westbound 2010 Mazda passenger car head-on which was driven by Dallas Jackson, 22, Madison, Holley said. It is unclear which vehicle crossed the centerline first as the vehicles collided in the center of the roadway, Holley said.

As a result of the collision, Jackson suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead by the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office. McRoy was transported to the University of Louisville Hospital for treatment of serious but non-life threatening injuries, Holley said.

A passenger in Jackson’s vehicle, Zachary Kelly, 21, Lexington, Indiana was transported to the University of Louisville Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

At this time, the investigation is ongoing to determine which vehicle crossed the centerline.  Toxicology results are pending on both drivers, Holley said.
