Donner swimmers compete in state events

Two Donner Swim Club athletes competed in last weekend’s Indiana Age Group State Championships at IUPUI’s Indiana University Natatorium.

Ainsley Sherlock scored seven points for Donner by placing 12th in the 10-and-under girls 100 breaststroke and 15th in the 200 individual medley. She also finished 17th in the 50 breaststroke and 18th in the 200 freestyle.

Daniel Utterback finished 22nd in the 13-14 boys 100 butterfly, 24th in the 50 freestyle and 25th in the 100 freestyle.

The previous weekend, four Donner swimmers competed in the Indiana Senior State Swimming Championships at Indiana University.

Darby Coles, who will be a sophomore at Marshall, finished 22nd in the girls 200 freestyle, 26th in the 50 freestyle, 40th in the 400 freestyle and 44th in the 100 freestyle. Karlie Brown took 32nd in the 200 butterfly, 90th in the 100 butterfly and 109th in the 200 IM.

For the boys, Nick Green finished 27th in the 200 IM, 31st in the 400 IM, 53rd in the 400 freestyle and 63rd in the 200 freestyle. Evan Patterson was 30th in the 100 freestyle, 44th in the 50 freestyle, 55th in the 200 freestyle and 71st in the 100 butterfly.
