Neighborly discussion tonight at YES

A documentary film about children’s television personality Fred Rogers debuts today at YES Cinema with the 5:30 p.m. screening of “Won’t You Be My Neighbor?”

The film, which is 94 minutes long, will be followed by a brief panel discussion highlighting the importance of community, diversity and social justice, youth empowerment and spiritual connections — elements that were present in the longrunning “Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood” TV show on PBS.

The special event is co-presented by the Columbus Area Arts Council, Council for Youth Development and Lincoln-Central Neighborhood Family Center. Goodie bags with valuable community information will be available at the event.

Subsequent showings of “Won’t You Be My Neighbor?” will be sponsored by the Columbus Area Arts Council, the Indiana Arts Commission and the National Endowment for the Arts.
