To avoid a remonstrance and a delay of the construction of a second downtown parking garage, Cummins Inc. announced it would spend $3 million toward construction costs instead of contributing that amount to The Commons.

The Collings Foundation B-17 and B-24 bombers, restored to their 1944-45 configurations with radios, turrets and guns, landed at Columbus Municipal Airport for three days of tours and rides.

Clessie L. Cummins, co-founder of Cummins Engine Co. and “father” of the truck diesel, died at his home in Sausalito, California.
