Deputies arrest two after traffic stop

Bartholomew County Sheriff deputies arrested two people on drug-related charges after a traffic stop in the 3100 block of Washington Street in Columbus.

Deputy Matt Bush stopped the vehicle at 4 p.m. Wednesday, deputies said.

Kristen Hunter, 34, of 6356 S Becks Grove Road, was arrested on preliminary charges of possession of a controlled substance and visiting a common nuisance, deputies said. She has since been released from the Bartholomew County Jail.

Also arrested was Kyle A. Hunter, 35, 125 ½ Brooks St., on preliminary charges of dealing in heroin, dealing in methamphetamine, possession of heroin, possession of methamphetamine, maintaining a common nuisance, and operating a motor vehicle without receiving a driver’s license. He was being held in the Bartholomew County Jail in lieu of a $605,000 bond.

“Routine traffic stops that lead to drug-related arrests are more common and deputies are recovering more drug-related items and paraphernalia, keeping more and more drugs off our streets, ” said Sheriff Matt Myers.

To date, Bartholomew County Sheriff’s deputies have made 5,819 traffic stops so far this year.
