North, East JV football teams victorious

Quarterback Cody Ruble ran for two touchdowns to lead the Columbus North junior varsity football team to a 21-18 win against Southport.

Ruble scored on runs of 4 and 2 yards. Royce Lofton scored the other touchdown on a 4-yard run.

Carter Ward went 3 for 3 on extra points for the Bull Dogs (3-0).

East claims first win

Columbus East’s JV team picked up its first win of the season, a 20-6 victory at Seymour.

Kai Stidham scored a pair of touchdowns on 5-yard runs. Malachi Parks threw a 20-yard scoring pass to Charles Claycamp and ran for a 2-point conversion.

Elias VanCuren had a fumble recovery, and Tyler Thompson intercepted a pass for the Olympians (1-2).

Jennings 7th-graders fall

Jennings County’s seventh-graders lost to Scottsburg 18-6 on Thursday.

Payton Bragg scored the touchdown for the Panthers (1-3) on a 74-yard kickoff return.

BOYS TENNIS

Spartans stay unbeaten

Northside Middle School ran its record to 5-0 with a 5-0 win against Seymour on Tuesday and a 4-1 victory against Center Grove North on Wednesday.

Amrit Kar, Param Patel and Sid Jain won singles matches against Seymour; while Anvay Atram, Ben Genter, Ronit Jha and Darren Li took doubles matches. Atram, Kar and Patel won singles matches against Center Grove North; while Matt Degner, Luke Sequeira, Jain and Genter claimed doubles matches.

The Northside JV beat Seymour 5-1 and Center Grove North 6-0. Ajay Singireddy, Zach Kiser, Nichoulas Bergman and Sequeira won singles matches and Sid Kamble and Jaeheon Shim took a doubles match against Seymour. Li, Kamble and Degner won singles matches; and Bergman, Leo Guo, Kiser and Singireddy took doubles matches against Center Grove North.

Panther boys win invite

Jennings County Middle School boys won the Jennings Invitational, while the Panther girls finished third behind Greensburg and Seymour.

Eli Wahlman led the boys with a second-place finish in 11 minutes, 56 seconds. Eddie Ray took fourth in 11:56, while Sam Fewell was seventh (12:23), Logan Peacock ninth (12:28) and Noah McFall 10th (12:29).

Katie Gasper finished 10th in 13:57 to lead the Jennings girls. Macy Addis took 12th in 14:09, while Mary Gasper was 17th (14:40), Hallee Franks 19th (14:48) and Kennedy Woods 29th (16:09).

VOLLEYBALL

Northside, Jennings split

Northside won the eighth-grade game 25-14, 25-17, and Jennings County took the seventh-grade contest 25-15, 25-24 on Tuesday.

Julian Woodard served four aces, and Lucy Brown added three aces for the Panther seventh-graders. Megan Vogel, Abby McDonald and Zoie Suhre all had an ace for the Jennings eighth-graders.

The Panthers were swept Immanuel Lutheran on Thursday, with the Jennings eighth-graders falling 25-19, 25-17 and the seventh-graders dropping a 24-25, 25-19, 15-5 decision. Nettie Meeks served two aces for the eighth-graders (4-9), and Lucy Brown had three aces for the seventh-graders (8-5).

PRO WRESTLING

HPW holds ‘Labor Day Sting’

Hoosier Pro Wrestling returned to the Bartholomew County 4-H Fairgrounds last weekend with its “Labor Day Sting” show.

Cousin Cooter won a Three-Way Dance, beating Dewey Brown and Rough Rider. Zack Pittman pinned Ace Jackson to keep the HPW Cruiserweight Belt.

Butcher Manson pinned Jason Levi, Echo the Clown lost to Scarecrow by DQ and Raul beat Drax O’Brien. Shawna Reed pinned Harley in a Diva Match, then both beat down HPW Intergender Champ Richard Sharkey when he came into the ring.

HPW Tag Champs Fireball and Tank, with Damien Saint, battled Buck Sexton & Dynamite Dillen to a DDQ. In the Main Event, Flash Flanagan and Mystery Partner Omega Pitbull went to a DDQ with Kenny Kage and Duke the Nuke in a wild battle in and outside the ring.
