Crusaders clinch title

Columbus Christian was pushed to the wire Monday night, but pulled out a dramatic 25-16, 18-25, 25-14, 21-25, 16-14 win against Medora to clinch at least a share of the Southern Roads Conference championship.

The Crusdaders (10-1, 4-0) trailed 14-10 in the final set when they picked up a sideout. Hannah Stair then served five consecutive points, beginning and ending with an ace, to give Columbus Christian the come-from-behind win.

Stair finished with four kills, 27 assists, one block assist, nine digs and 11 aces to lead the Crusaders, who can win the title outright with a win Saturday at Evansville Christian. Mayah Schundelmier recorded 18 kills, one solo block and two assist blocks and eight digs.

Madison Henderson tallied seven kills and 14 digs; and Ellie Ridder had six kills, one assist block and five aces. Michaela Schundelmier notched 15 digs and six aces, Lauren Hunnicutt added four kills and eight digs and Kayla Jones contributed 10 digs.

Jets fall to Owls

SEYMOUR — Class A Hauser went up against a 4A school and fell 25-17, 25-11, 25-17 at Seymour.

Kylie Lock led the Jets (8-6) with a block and an ace. Hannah Johnson pounded eight kills, Aunuka Wasil recorded 15 assists, Melanie Taylor notched 17 digs and Mary Branum and Shelby Fugate each served an ace.

Fugate also had three kills, an assist and 11 digs, and Lock added three kills and 10 digs. Abby Branum tallied one assist.

Chargers sweep Lancers

EDINBURGH — Edinburgh came closer in each set in a 25-6, 25-13, 25-21 loss at North Decatur.

The Cougars fell to 0-17 overall and 0-4 in the Mid-Hoosier Conference.

Batesville edges Jennings

BATESVILLE — Jennings County fell just short in a 2-1 loss at Batesville.

Jaydan Vanosdol scored the goal for the Panthers (1-10) off an assist from Keagan Craig. Dreagen Ison recorded three saves.

Salem tops Trinity

SALEM — Trinity Lutheran had a rough evening in a 9-2 loss at Salem.

AJ Goecker and Ricky Castro scored goals for the Cougars (2-6). Brayden Stockleman posted 10 saves, and Nathan Thompson added five saves.

Panthers down Devils

JEFFERSONVILLE — Naomi Beal scored three goals to lead Jennings County to a 3-1 Hoosier Hills Conference win at Jeffersonville, setting up a battle of HHC unbeatens at 5:30 p.m. today at Columbus East.

Lauren Green had two assists for the Panthers (6-2, 3-0), who outshot the Red Devils 13-3. Kenna Maschino recorded two saves.

Stars stop Eagles

BEDFORD — Brown County fell behind early and couldn’t recover in a 3-1 loss at Bedford North Lawrence.

Izzy Rygiel scored an unassisted goal for the Eagles (1-5-1), who were outshot 7-6. Skylar Fleischman posted four saves.

Warriors topple Panthers

SCOTTSBURG — Scottsburg swept the singles matches in handing Jennings County a 4-1 defeat.

Weston Miller and Kent Biehle beat Cole Atha and Ryan Gibson 6-7 (5), 6-2, 7-6 (2) at No. 1 doubles for the lone point for the Panthers (1-5).

Jennings’ Thomas Schuler fell to Camden Jones 6-0, 6-3 at No. 1 singles, Kyle Tempest lost to Mark Hays 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 singles and Greyson Jackson fell to Jordan Smith 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles. Wyatt St. John and Joe Kelley lost to Braden Barger and David Gaffney 6-4, 0-6, 6-4 at No. 2 doubles.

Owls blank Lancers

EDINBURGH — Seymour dropped only six games in four contested matches in its 5-0 win at Edinburgh.

Coltan Henderson fell to Adam Berry 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, and Brayden McManaway lost to Sam Schmidt 6-3, 6-2 at No. 2 singles for the Lancers (1-6). The Owls’ Braden Handloser won by forfeit at No. 3 singles.

Edinburgh’s Kolton Reed and Parker Neuman fell to Will Rinehart and Brandon Hubbard at No. 1 doubles, and Isaiah Estes and Trevor Moon lost to Brandon Terrel and Andrew Levine at No. 2 doubles, both by 6-0, 6-0 scores.
