COLUMBUS
Wanda I. Spears, 90, of Columbus, passed from this life at 11:59 p.m. Friday, September 14, 2018 at the Columbus Regional Hospital Emergency Room.
Mrs. Spears retired from Arvin Industries after 28 years of service.
She attended First Christian Church.
Wanda was born August 2, 1928 in Columbus, the daughter of Ralph and Oneita Betts Sweeney.
She married Joe B. Spears on March 17, 1967. He preceded her in death on September 24, 2017.
Survivors include her daughter, Pamela (Bob) Tempest of Columbus; step-children, Larry (Jan) Spears of Nashville, Joyce Devine of Gatlinburg, Tennessee, Patricia Spears of Orlando, Florida, Rob Tempest of Columbus and Angela Tempest of Columbus; grandson, Craig Holcomb of Columbus; step-grandchildren, Tyler Spears of Nashville, Kyle Spears of Bloomington, Ali McCaghren of Orland, Florida, Tim Maines of Gatlinburg, Joel Devine of Gatlinburg and Cory Devine of Gatlinburg; two step great-grandchildren; a brother, Wendel (Colleen) Sweeney of Columbus; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Spears was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Cleon Sweeney; and a sister, Norma J. Bidwell.
The funeral will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Pastor Paul Hardin officiating.
Family and friends may call from 9:30 a.m. to time of service Wednesday.
Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
