In reference to Tom Lane’s most recent letter to the editor, I would like to point out a couple of mistakes in his philosophy. He stated that the purpose of the government is to provide for the people. In a socialist or communist state, that is absolutely correct.
The problem with his thinking is that if you want the government to provide for you, then move to China or North Korea. I prefer to provide for me and mine, which is what the United States of America, which I fought for, is about.
The fundamental purpose of government is the maintenance of basic security and public order, not to provide. Unfortunately, due to all of the socialist teaching of our younger generations, this has been totally overlooked.
Finally, he mentioned that not all Democrats are socialist. If you do not believe that socialists are taking over our government from within, the please visit the website for Democratic Socialists of America and see what government representatives it says are members. You will be surprised.
