Crops and field fires training, 9 to 11 a.m., Purdue Extension Bartholomew County office, 783 S. Marr Road, Columbus. Session is for emergency services personnel. Breakfast foods ready by 8, registration starts at 8:30. Speaker is Indiana Department of Natural Resources coordinator Darren Bridges. Topics: wildfire environment basics, tools for field fire vs. woods fire, engine protocol, control techniques, control line methods, PPE. Documentation can be provided for continuing credits. Produce food safety training session, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Purdue Extension-Hancock County, 802 N. Apple St., Greenfield. Aids farms and growers in learning the basics of food safety and assist in establishing safety programs for their operations. The training sessions utilize the Produce Safety Alliance curriculum. The sessions are $100 per participant, which includes a curriculum manual, certificate of completion and lunch.
