COLUMBUS
Richard Lee “Dick” Warner was born on July 2, 1940 and left this world on October 20, 2018.
He was a loving husband to his wife, Elizabeth “Libby” for 57 years. He was a beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He leaves behind two daughters, Debra (Ray) Stanton of Scipio and Pamela (Mike) Clemenz of Taylorsville; five grandchildren, Dustin Clark, Casey Grant, Steven Reed II, Nathan Reed and James Reed. Dick had five great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Clark, Azalee Johnson, Dylan Clark, Lillyonna Johnson and Malachi Johnson.
Dick was born and raised in Columbus, and worked at Dolly Madison Bakery from the age of 16 until he retired in 2003.
He was a loved and respected member of the community and a past member of the Corvette Club of Columbus.
He loved to fish, spend time with his family, drive a dune buggy with his grandchildren and go geocaching.
He leaves behind six brothers and sisters, Faye Chamberlin, Raye Louise (Danny) James, both of Columbus, Wanda Clawson of Kenosha, Wisconsin, Joseph (Shirley) Warner of Columbus, Earl (Kathy) Warner of Milton, Kentucky, and Dean “Pete” (Betty), also of Columbus.
He was preceded in death by his father, Earl William Warner and his mother, Alberta (Elkins) Warner; two sisters, Doris Ann Warner and Carol Sue Warner, three brothers, Kenneth Eugene “Jerry” Warner, John Henry Warner and Larry William Warner.
The funeral service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with David Burnett officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be Wednesday from 5 until 8 p.m. and Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
In keeping with the families wishes, cremation will take place after the funeral.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation.
