Crusaders go 1-1-1 on first day of tourney

DAYTON, Tennessee — Columbus Christian won one, tied one and lost one Wednesday on the first day of the National Association of Christian Athletes volleyball tournament.

The Crusaders opened with a 25-11, 25-15 win against Collegedale Christian (Tennessee). Columbus Christian then split sets with Covenant Classical (North Carolina) 25-14, 24-25 before falling to Cumberland Valley (Pennsylvania) 25-14, 25-18.

Mayah Schundelmier recorded 21 kills, one block assist five digs and six aces in the three matches. Madison Henderson tallied six kills, one solo block, 15 digs and nine aces; and Hannah Stair notched three kills, 38 assists, a block assist, nine digs and four aces.

Also for the Crusaders, Ellie Ridder contributed eight kills, nine digs and five aces. Michaela Schundelmier added one kill, 11 digs and two aces and Kayla Jones had four kills and 16 digs.

Columbus Christian (28-4-2) will open bracketed play today. The Crusaders will find out this afternoon if they will be in Division I or Division II.
