COLUMBUS
Mary V. Jackson, 100, of Columbus, passed from this life at 5:15 p.m. Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Hope.
Mrs. Jackson was the daughter of Dola and Stella Colglazier Cromer.
On June 18, 1936, she married Loren R. Jackson. He preceded her in death May 15, 1982.
Mrs. Jackson was a clerk at the White House Department Store and later was the co-owner of Mary’s House of Brides; she retired in 1982.
Mrs. Jackson was a faithful member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church and a member of the Sewing Circle at the church.
She was a member of Business & Professional Women’s Association.
Mrs. Jackson had a passion for documenting her family history and was instrumental in her neighborhood. She also loved to sew.
Mrs. Jackson is survived by her daughter, Janice (Bob) Sherbundy of Columbus; her grandchildren, Christy (Kenny) DeBord of Columbus, Jeff (Donna) Taylor of Elizabethtown and Tony (Amy) DuBois of Columbus; great-grandchildren, Jason (Lisa) DeBord of St. Louis, Missouri, Tiffany (Dane) Spuckler of Ellettsville, Justin (Kacey) DeBord of Indianapolis, Amanda Taylor of Indianapolis, Shelby DuBois of Columbus and Cailin DuBois of Columbus; great-great grandchildren, Emma and William DeBord and Cooper DeBord; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Jackson was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, brothers, Arthur B., Carl E., Harold E. and Lawrence L. Cromer; and a sister, Harriett Jones.
The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 27, 2018 at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Dr. Chad Foster officiating.
Family and friends may gather for visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday.
Mrs. Jackson will be laid to rest next to her husband at the Garland Brook Cemetery.
