Letter: Vote to have say in government

From: Dr. Robert Forste

The election is underway and early voting is open, convenient and quick. Bartholomew County voters should remember that if they don’t vote, they relinquish their right to complain.

Democrats and independents have an opportunity to return two-party governance to our state and nation. We have stagnated in the Statehouse and Congress because of obstructionism, lack of imaginative legislation and failure to compromise among our lawmakers.

For those Republicans with a sense of fairness, an active moral compass and concern about our country’s loss of leadership and validity on the world’s stage, this election can put on notice the leadership of their party that a return to the former ideals of the party, fiscal responsibility, standing strong against world tyrants and tolerance is a priority.

We all have the responsibility to vote in this important election and return our governance to those who will serve us with cooperation, compassion, and good sense.
