NORTH VERNON
Billy Dee Perkins Sr., 74, of North Vernon, passed away at his residence on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at 5:30 p.m.
He was born on June 11, 1944 in Columbus, Indiana to Doris A. “Bill” and Mollie Jane Tempest Perkins.
He married Marilyn J. Willis Perkins on February 21, 1964 at the Westport Methodist Church in Westport. She preceded him in death in 2009.
Mr. Perkins graduated from Columbus High School in 1962 and worked at and retired from Cummins after 30 years of service in 1993.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
He attended church at the 1st Assembly of God in North Vernon, serving as an user. He enjoyed telling people about Jesus and salvation wherever he went.
He is survived by sons Billy D. (Drucilla) Perkins Jr. of North Vernon, and Michael A. (Brenda) Perkins, and Steven (Sheila) Perkins, both of Grammar. Surviving grandchildren include Jalie Carbajal of Evansville, Rella Herche and Nicole (Justin) Bradshaw, both of North Vernon, Andrea Boyd and Tyler Perkins, both of Columbus, and Travis Perkins of Grammar. Surviving great grandchildren include Rachel Warren, Brandon Carbajal, Victoria Herche, Catherine Bradshaw, and Gary Bradshaw, all of North Vernon, Karly Monteleone and Kallen Monteleone, both of Columbus, and Jessica Rivera of Greensburg. Surviving sisters include Roxanna (John) Hamilton of North Vernon and Kay Prewitt of Scottsburg.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Marilyn J. Willis Perkins, and his parents, Mollie and Doris “Bill” Perkins.
A funeral service will be held for Mr. Perkins at 11 a.m. on Monday, October 29, 2018 at Bear Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Bob Daily officiating.
