The Columbus East High School marching band finished in eighth place Saturday during the ISSMA Scholastic Class A finals.
The Olympian Spirit marching band was among 14 units that competed during the finals at Mt. Vernon High School. The East band also received fourth-place honors for its music, band director David Rodgers said.
It was the East band’s last performance of this year’s competition season.
The Warren Central Gold Brigade Band captured first place during the competition, while LaPorte and Lafayette Jefferson high schools earned second and third place, respectively.
Rodgers said weather conditions with precipitation Saturday were not ideal, but noted that students did a great job adjusting to them.
Rodgers said he is proud of his students and their professionalism in handling the past two weeks and preparing twice for the finals, which had been rescheduled due to a power outage.
