Around Town – November 2

Editor’s note: The deadline was noon Thursday for all politically oriented Orchid or Onion submissions about candidates in the Tuesday general election. Comments about candidates or the election in general can resume in Wednesday’s edition.

Orchids to …

• the neighbor near Donner Park dressed in a clown costume with the albino rat snake on Halloween — creepy, but best house on the block.

• President Trump for his inspirational message delivered Saturday to the FFA convention in Indianapolis, from a former member and supporter of FFA.

• Frank Anderson Tire Co. for the timely and skillful repair of the Bobcat tire.

• Jennifer Hendrix, a Walmart cashier who takes pride in being kind and considerate to customers, from Lisa.

• the Parkside faculty and staff for a fantastic Trunk or Treat.

• Christians who don’t fall for the Republican propaganda.

• all the well-mannered trick-or-treaters and their parents for making Halloween a happy holiday.

• Kathy at the McDonald’s on National Road for the donation of cookies and toys for Parkside Baptist Church’s Fall Festival.

• Marilynn Harter for her letter reminding us again of the hypocrisy of the left, especially Obama, regarding illegal immigration, from Bob Valek.

• parents at the corner of Fairlawn and 31st streets for cleaning out the gutter to allow the puddle to clear at the crosswalk, from a grateful crossing guard.

• the candidate and wife who have worked so hard to get elected Nov. 6, from Elsie Hege.

• the Hauser FFA chapter for its national award and all their vital work on suicide prevention, from Kim.

• the maintenance man at Four Seasons for the fantastic job of putting up my quilt rack and placing the quilt on it.

• Debra and Julie Greene for taking me to Carmel Wednesday for my doctor’s appointment, from Mom/Grandma Judy.

• the Souzas, the Farrars, and the Fawins for hosting our Green Egg social, from your Pintail Court neighbors.

• Montana Mike’s, Mattie’s Antiques, Caleb and everyone who helped Josie and Kayden from Girl Scout Troop 3372 and came to eat and share fellowship, from Taylorsville United Methodist Church.

Onions to …

• those who leave their lights on to attract the trick-or-treaters on Halloween, then are not home or just don’t answer the door.

• the politician who wants separation of church and state, but has to proclaim a religion in a political ad.

• people who are unaware that when they sign up for Medicare at 65, they are signing up for a single-payer national health insurance program.

• U.S. leaders on the possibility of sending up to 15,000 troops to the border, which is more than the number currently in Afghanistan and Syria combined.

• all the people complaining about our president who don’t realize he’s the best president we ever had.

• the city official who thought it was OK to leave trick-or-treating on Wednesday.

• our hypocritical campaigner-in-chief for attacking immigrants while he is married to one.

• liberals who will not credit the president’s policies for the great profits by the local engine manufacturer.

Happy Birthday to …

• Jodie Wolter, from your family and Donna.

• Sylvia Wampler.

• Patrick Stroupy Doo, from your dad.

Happy Anniversary to …

• David and Sharon Bruner.
