Some Columbus firefighters were called away from the Columbus Firefighters Cheer Fund Chili Cook-off benefit tonight at the FairOaks Mall to go on a fire call.
Firefighters were sent to 4697 Autumn Ridge Drive on Columbus’ north side at 4:57 p.m. Friday for a utility shed fire that was extinguished within minutes of their arrival, said Capt. Mike Wilson, Columbus Fire Department spokesman.
The shed contained a lawn mower and other stored materials. No injuries were reported.
The chili cookoff which began at 5:30 p.m. today near the former Carson’s entrance, continues at the mall with proceeds to benefit the Cheer Fund, which provides toys to underprivileged children at Christmas.
