Two people were arrested by Bartholomew County Sheriff deputies after their vehicle was stopped after a traffic violation.
Deputy Andrew Dougan saw a 2001 Toyota Camry turn east on to County Road 400N and disregard the stop sign at the railroad tracks while also appearing to drive toward a road closed barricade that was placed there due to flooding at 12:04 a.m. Sunday, deputies said.
After stopping the vehicle at U.S. 31 and county Road 400N, the driver, identified as Jacob Burch, 28, 1443 Franklin St., told Dougan that he had never received a driver’s license, deputies said.
Three passengers identified themselves and one, Shahalanie M. Falconbury, 31, also of 1443 Franklin St., was determined to be wanted on a warrant.
CPD K9 officer Branch Schrader brought K9 Argo to the scene, and the dog alerted to the vehicle. Officers then found a syringe near the front passenger seat, deputies said.
Falconbury was arrested on preliminary charges of possession of a legend drug injection device and the warrant.
Burch was arrested on a preliminary charge of operating a motor vehicle without ever receiving a driver’s license.
