Cortney VanLiew, who led Florida Gulf Coast to a pair of wins last week, has been named the Atlantic Sun Conference Player of the Week for volleyball.
VanLiew, a sophomore from Columbus East, led the Eagles with 18 kills in victories against Lipscomb and Kennessaw State. She has double-figure kills in 22 of the 28 matches this season.
VanLiew sits just two kills from becoming the sixth player in the FGCU’s Division-I era with at least 700 career kills. With 10 more kills, she’ll become the fifth player in the school’s Division-I era with 400 kills in one season.
The Player of the Week honor is the second of the season and the third of her career for VanLiew.
