WESTPORT
Our beloved, Sandra Denise (Coulter) Taylor Schroeder, 56, was called home to be with our Lord and savior on Saturday, November 3, 2018 in Columbus.
She was surrounded by her loving husband, children, siblings and dearest of friends.
She fought a long, tough 10-year battle of breast cancer that gradually consumed her entire body.
Sandra touched the lives of all those who knew her and even those she didn’t personally know. She will always be remembered for her incredible faith, inspiration, courage, strength and love of life.
She was strong and loving. She never complained, even during her last days, “this is God’s plan.”
Sandra was born July 20, 1962 in Muncie, to Laverne and Marcia Coulter.
She graduated from Madison Grant High School in Fairmount in 1980. Several college degrees obtained from Anderson College plus Ball State University were among her many accomplishments.
She eventually settled back home in Indiana, where she began working for Faurecia in Columbus then at Valeo Engine Cooling in Greensburg as a quality engineer.
Her talents were acknowledged when she and her two teammates won a worldwide competition for her part in implementing the Phaser Fluxing System for Valeo and traveled to France to receive their award.
During her time at Valeo she met the love of her life, Doug Schroeder. They were married July 21, 2018.
They enjoyed traveling together and especially enjoyed several visits to their honeymoon destination, French Lick.
Over the years she traveled and had her six children. They were the loves of her life. Sandi was a loving and creative mother, who was always creating new art, clothes, and wood working projects for them.
They will always remember her passion for involving them in her projects, whether it was Halloween costumes or matching family pictures.
She also had a passion for giving new life to antiques and using her creative eye to add her personal touch to everything around her, including her home.
Sandra was accomplished at everything. She was a talented seamstress, artist, writer, photographer and carpenter. She was a 10-year member of 4H and she was involved in teaching art therapy at Morning Breeze Church in Columbus, among many other organizations.
Sandra is survived by the love of her life, Doug Schroeder, of Westport; parents, Laverne (Ruth Ann) Coulter; siblings, Michael (Tonia) Coulter of Albany, Mark (Rhonda) Coulter of New Carlisle, Ohio, Larry (Sherry) Coulter of Gaston, Lisa (Ben) McCreery LeCount of Albany, Sara (Michael) Morgan of Noblesville; step-siblings, Jim Byrd of Winchester, David (Debbie) Byrd of Elwood, Ron (Abby) Byrd of Brookston, Diana (Scott) Dull of Winchester, Karen Byrd of Murray, Kentucky; children, Scott Taylor of Fairmount, Curtis (Merrika) Taylor of Zanesville, Kyle (Rebekah) Taylor of Hoyt, Kansas, Ryan (Becky) Taylor of Jonesboro, Morgan Taylor of Muncie, Shelby Sparkman (Peter Harrah) of Westport; stepchildren, Kyle (Amanda) Schroeder of Greenwood, Braydon (Jamie) Schroeder of North Salem, Aubree (Tyler) Smith of Fort Campbell, Kentucky; 12 grandchildren; and 14 nieces and nephews.
