The Columbus Broomball winter season kicked off last week with each of the eight teams in action.
Matt Street scored four goals, while Stephanie Pigneri and Ellie Lutz each added one, to lead The Rockpile to a 6-1 win against Toyota Tsunamis. Jimmy Robertson scored for the Tsunamis.
Slappin’ Balls blanked Yoopers 4-0. Eric Wernke scored two goals, and Stephanie Castetter and Todd Ebbinger each had one.
Monsters or Rock beat Hansons 6-2 behind three goals from Kyle Roshak, two from Tyler Rash and one from Ben Eckhart. Matt Psota and Rahul Bhardwaj scored for Hansons.
Our Name Is Earl edged CCA Kutters 2-1 on goals from Ricky Hooten and Ryan Ingalls. Scott Herron scored for Kutters.

Panthers sweep Chargers
The Jennings County seventh- and eighth-grade boys White teams both improved to 6-0 with wins against Central on Tuesday.
The Panther eighth-grade won 46-33. Keegan Manowitz scored 17 points, and Lane Zohrlaut added 13.
The Jennings seventh-grade won 51-32. Cole Sigler led the Panthers with 19 points, while Carter Kent added 15 and Andrew McKeand had 10.
Meanwhile, Jennings’ seventh- and eighth-grade boys Blue teams picked up their first wins of the season in a sweep of South Decatur on Tuesday. Brady Lane scored 10 points in the eighth grade’s 32-17 victory, and Peyton Bragg had 13 points in the seventh grade’s 32-27 win. Both Panther teams are now 1-2.
HPW hosting Toy Drive 2
Hoosier Pro Wrestling will host Discretion-Cheer Fund Toy Drive 2 at 7:45 p.m. Dec. 1 at the Bartholomew County 4-H Fairgrounds. Fans are asked to bring one or more new or gently used toys to benefit the Columbus Firemen’s Cheer Fund.
Doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets are $12, and kids 4-and-under are free.
