COLUMBUS
Douglas “Doug” Daniel Bean, 54, of Columbus, passed away unexpectedly at 5:38 p.m. Thursday, November 15, 2018 at his home.
Doug was born February 28, 1964, in Columbus, Indiana, the son of Donald R. and Diana D. Cutsinger Bean.
On April 19, 1991, he married Melissa Van Arsdale.
Doug was a huge supporter of the N.H.R.A. and loved mowing his yard. He enjoyed fishing and tinkering with engines. The television show, Forensic Files, was his favorite thing to watch. Doug will be greatly missed.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son and uncle.
Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Melissa; children, Cassandra (Nathan) Sander of Westport, Amanda (Brandon Arbuckle) Jones of Indianapolis, Derek Bean of Columbus; grandchildren, Austin Kellogg, Aden Boswell, Jasper Boswell, Jordan Wuest, Jaxyn Moore; father, Donald Bean of Grammer; brothers, Dwayne (Melissa) Bean of Columbus; David (Rena) Bean also of Grammer; sister, Donetta (Richard) Mead also of Columbus; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother; brother, Ronnie Bean and nephew, Jason Littiken.
The funeral service will be conducted at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Jonathan Moore Pike with Rev. Charles Aigner officiating. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until the time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.
In keeping with the family’s wishes, cremation will take place after the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
