Georgia R. “Granny” Wilkerson, 92, of Fairington Court, died at 9 p.m. Friday, November 23, 2018, at Homeview Health and Rehabilitation Center in Franklin.
Granny was born January 27, 1926, in Kurtz, the daughter of Sylvester and Benzie J. O’Neal Meek.
She married Lawrence L. Wilkerson on March 17, 1945, and he preceded her in death February 25, 1994.
She retired in 1990 from Como Plastics after 28 years of service and was a lifelong member of Jonesville Christian Church.
In 1956, Granny was Democratic county vice-chairman and a member of precinct committee women.
She was a charter member of both the V.A.W. Local 202 and the Jonesville Old Timers.
The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, November 30, 2018, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with Pastor Virgil Clotfelter officiating. Calling will be 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Daugherty Cemetery.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Homeview Health and Rehabilitation Center Employee Health Fund in Granny’s memory.
Survivors include her son, R.D. Butch (Judy) Wilkerson of Columbus; sister, Betty Chaney of Greenwood; six grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lawrence; and brothers, Harley Meek, Richard Meek, Donald Meek, Russell Meek and Jack Meek and sisters, Gladys Moffitt, Margaret Green and Irene Kuntz.
