Police officials in Decatur, Jackson and Bartholomew counties blamed a light snow mixed with sleet for a rash of accidents on slick overpasses and bridges.

With the opening of the Christmas shopping season, Columbus Police Chief Glenn Line announced that local police would begin shoplifting prevention surveillance at local businesses and offer a shoplifting clinic for all Columbus merchants in cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce.
