Columbus police arrested a local man who was accused of stealing two large packages from a local home’s doorstep.
Police were sent to a home in the 800 block of 15th Street at 2 p.m. Tuesday after the homeowner advised that while she was at work, she saw the theft on a home security camera and sent officers a copy of the video.
Officers saw the suspect — identified as Christopher J. George, 32, of 822 Seventh St. — a short time later in the 1400 block of Pearl Street, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.
After speaking with George, police arrested the suspect on a preliminary charge of theft as a Class A misdemeanor. He was taken to the Bartholomew County Jail and subsequently was released, according to jail records.
