Traffic is jammed up at the State Road 46 and State Road 11 intersection with the Louisville & Indiana train tracks due to a train crossing malfunction.
Police are estimating it will be about another 15 minutes before train employees get the problem fixed. The train arms are down, although no trains are passing through the intersection.
Some drivers are turning around by going through the median to avoid the backlog. Traffic heading east into Columbus is backed up past Starbucks on Jonathan Moore Pike.
Police say motorists should avoid the area at this time as the backed-up traffic could continue to cause issues for some time.
