The Columbus Firemen’s Cheer Fund holiday assistance program has canceled packing sessions Wednesday and Friday after a large volunteer turnout completed the gift boxes needed so far.
Volunteers are still being sought to deliver the Cheer Fund gift boxes beginning at 8 a.m. Dec. 15 at the Doug Otto United Way Center, 1531 13th St.

Toy and monetary donations are being accepted at all Columbus fire stations.
The Cheer Fund is the oldest charity in Bartholomew County that depends solely on public donations for its existence. Founded by the Columbus Fire Department in 1930, it assists more than 2,000 children with gifts and conducts fundraisers throughout the year.
