Iona Fields, 87, of Columbus, passed from this life at 9:05 p.m. Saturday, December 15, 2018 at Keepsake Village of Columbus.
Mrs. Fields was born July 22, 1931, in Russell Springs, Kentucky, the loving daughter of Nannie Byrd. On April 2, 1956, Iona married Fred Fields; he preceded her in death November 20, 2008.
A homemaker, Mrs. Fields enjoyed quilting, crocheting and cooking for her family.
Mrs. Fields is survived by her children, Bryon K. Fields of Columbus, Kathy Hatton and her husband, Gary, of Columbus and Debra Aldridge of Columbus; her grandchildren, Chad Fields, Casey (Justin) DeSpain, Lindsay Fields, Joshua Aldridge, Michael Aldridge, Jason Hatton and Bradley Hatton; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Fields was preceded in death by her mother and step-father, Nannie and Arville Tarter; her husband, Fred; and her sister, Effie Richards.
The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Pastor Wes Jones officiating.
Family and friends may gather for visitation from 11:30 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Fields will be laid to rest next to her husband at Garland Brook Cemetery.
The family asks that memorial contributions be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
