SHELBYVILLE
Gary D. Jenkins, 65, of Shelbyville, passed away Thursday, December 20, 2018 at his residence. Born January 10, 1953, in Columbus. He was the son of Charles F. Jenkins and Betty L. (Smith) Jenkins.
Survivors include his significant other, Alletta Thurston, of Shelbyville; children, Gary D. Jenkins Jr, (Sherry) of Covington, LA, Alan Browning (Kimberly) of Shelbyville, Chad Eveland (Tosha) of Rushville, Amy Jenkins of Shelbyville, Aaron Jenkins (Lakyn) of Shelbyville, Tania Lower of Shelbyville; 2 sisters, Linda D. West (Charles) of Shelbyville, Sheri Jones (Gary) of Shelbyville; nieces, Charity Powell (Jerry) of Atlanta, IN, Erika Bannen (Ian) of Fishers; 15 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a niece, Andrea Temple Matray.
Gary attended Southwestern High School. He had worked as a carpenter for R & H Builders for 21 years before going out on his own for 14 years. Later he was a steel worker at MBCI for 10 years.
Gary enjoyed Indiana University Basketball, NASCAR, golfing, playing guitar, riding his Harley and dearly loved his dog Cooper.
A celebration of life will be from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, December 27, 2018, at Glenn E. George and Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road, Shelbyville, Indiana.
