COLUMBUS
Sue A. Alvis, 82, of Columbus, passed away at 5:47 p.m. Thursday, January 3, 2019 at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.
Sue was born April 7, 1936, in Columbus, Indiana, the daughter of Paul A. and Dorothy M. Spurgin Whitehouse. On May 2, 1958, she married Max N. Alvis.
Mrs. Alvis retired from Irwin Union Bank after more than 20 years of service. She retired as an Officer of the Bank. Sue was also a charter member of Westside Community Church and the Ruby Tuesday Bible Study.
Survivors include her daughter, Kimberly (Gary) Bowles; grandchildren, Adrienne Bowles and Derek Bowles; great-grandchildren, Selby Brown and Kyler Bowles, all of Columbus.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Max Alvis; brother, Larry Whitehouse and daughter, Kathleen Alvis.
In keeping with the family’s wishes, cremation is planned and a memorial service will take place at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Pastor Dennis Aud officiating. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until the time of service Tuesday at the Funeral Home.
Inurnment will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
