Yogathon set Saturday at Donner Center

The nonprofit Columbus Chapter of Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh has organized its annual Sun Salutation Yogathon from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday at Donner Center, 739 22nd St. in Columbus. The event is open to all.

Organizers ask that people bring their own yoga mat and water, if needed.

According to yoga experts, the sun salutations poses lengthen and strengthen, flex and extend many of the main muscles of the body. Practitioners also say the poses activate the endocrine system and parts of the body that encourage the flow of energy.

The chapter is a social and cultural organization that works on preserving and promoting Hindu culture and values such as universal brotherhood and service, according to organizers.

Every year the chapter celebrates "Yoga for Health, Health for Humanity."
