Jazz clinic, concert Tuesday at Columbus North

The Jamey Aebersold Quartet will lead a jazz clinic and concert from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Columbus North High School’s Judson Erne Auditorium, 1400 25th St.

Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children younger than age 12 for the event that is part of North student Alex Farrar’s Eagle Scout project. The event is open to students and the public.

Aebersold, based in New Albany, is a highly acclaimed jazz saxophonist who recently was awarded the prestigious NEA Jazz Masters Award. Farrar, a sax player who has attended Aebersold’s summer jazz camp the past three years, is a member of the school’s 25th Street Jazz Band. In May, he was part of the school’s highly popular “American Pie” rock concert, accompanying singer Emily Sipes on a cover of the hit “Heat Wave.”
