Grubby says an early spring is on the way

HOPE — Grubby the groundhog, Bartholomew County’s predictor of our future weather for the rest of the season, predicted an early spring during Groundhog Day ceremonies in the Hope town square this morning.

The Bartholomew County area is covered in fog, freezing fog and cloudy skies, virtually a guarantee that Grubby, along with Punxsutawney Phil in Pennsylvania, would not see their shadows.

Legend says if the groundhog does not see a shadow on Groundhog Day, an early spring can be expected.
