Columbus-area residents show their generosity in a variety of ways, through volunteerism, assistance in times of tragedy and through financial support of worthy causes.
The 11th Annual Dancing With the Stars Columbus Style fundraiser on Jan. 26 at The Commons was an example of the latter.
Each year the event is a fundraiser for two nonprofit agencies that assist children: Family School Partners and Children Inc. The money they receive from the afternoon and evening benefit shows is used for child care, early education and activities that meet children’s needs — physically, socially and emotionally.
A matinee show attracted a crowd of 360, and the sold-out evening show drew 440. That’s indicative of strong support for the worthy organizations, and the attraction of a fun, entertaining, high-energy event that has become a must-see community attraction for more than a decade.

This year Dancing With the Stars Columbus Style raised $68,622 — about a thousand more than last year (although not a record for the event). With this year’s total included, about $820,000 has been raised for Family School Partners and Children Inc.
That’s tremendous and valuable support for agencies that serve an important need, and who count on every dollar they can get to support their missions. Generous Columbus-area residents are making that possible, thankfully.
