Greiwe earns broadcast education scholarship

MUNCIE — Ball State University sophomore Seena Greiwe, a native of Columbus, recently received a $5,000 scholarship awarded to students studying broadcast engineering and media technology.

The National Association of Broadcasters’ PILOT initiative offered scholarships to college students in partnership with the Broadcast Education Association.

Greiwe has worked on a variety of projects for Sports Link, the university’s primary source for student-run sports content. She is involved in the organization’s ESPN3 and ESPN+ productions, produced the 2019 Ball State gymnastics introduction video, and is currently involved in an externship with the NCAA creating social media content.

Greiwe also has had opportunities to travel to some of the largest events in college sports, including the finals of the NCAA men’s basketball tournament, the FCS football championship, and the NCAA volleyball tournament.

She aspires to work as a video content creator for an NFL team, college team, or for the NCAA, according to Ball State.

Students receive Franklin College honors

FRANKLIN — Franklin College has announced its president’s and dean’s list for the fall 2018 semester. Students named to the president’s list have achieved academic distinction by earning a perfect 4.0 grade point average while completing a minimum of 12 credit hours during a regular semester. Students named to the dean’s list have completed a minimum of 12 credit hours during a regular semester and earned a grade point average of at least 3.5 but less than 4.0.

Columbus native graduates from Columbia State

Columbia State Community College has announced Aarika Smiley of Columbus is a fall 2018 graduate.

Smiley graduated cum laude with a associate of science in University Parallel (General Transfer).

Columbia State Community College is a two-year college serving a nine-county area in southern Middle Tennessee with five campuses, including Columbia, Williamson, Lawrence, Lewisburg and Clifton. Columbia State was established in 1966 as Tennessee’s first community college.
