Flood watch issued through Tuesday

COLUMBUS, Ind. — The National Weather Service in Indianapolis has issued a flood watch for portions of central Indiana, east central Indiana, south central Indiana, southeast Indiana, southwest Indiana and west central Indiana from late Sunday night through Tuesday morning.

Counties in the watch area the following include Bartholomew, Decatur, Johnson, Marion, Shelby, Brown, Jackson and Jennings.

Periods of rain and possibly heavy are expected from Sunday night through Tuesday Morning.

River flooding is expected and will likely worsen due to the additional rainfall. Standing water in fields and along some area roads will occur. This may result in driving difficulties
and road closures.

A flood watch means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
