COLUMBUS
Joseph W. Williams, 75, of Columbus, passed from this life at 9:20 a.m. Friday, February 8, 2019 at Columbus Regional Hospital.
Mr. Williams was born November 13, 1943, in Daviess County, Indiana, the son of Wilbur A. and Mary P. Adams Williams.
Early in life, Mr. Williams worked at the Ford Dealership in Washington, Indiana. He then started a long career with Cummins Engine Company. He worked in the paint booth and the rocker lever department retiring in 2002 after 39 years of service.
Mr. Williams was of the Catholic faith and he enjoyed membership in the National Rifle Association.
He cherished the time he spent with his children, grandchildren and family. He enjoyed target shooting and mowing yards.
Mr. Williams is survived by his children, Kenny (Ursula) Williams of Columbus, Connie Rucker of North Vernon and Melinda (Diego Ubaldo Sanchez) Williams of Taylorsville; grandchildren, D.J. Rucker of North Vernon, Macy Rucker of North Vernon, Diego Williams of Taylorsville, Hanna Williams of Taylorsville and Nathan Williams of Muncie; a great-grandson, Brysun Bowman of North Vernon; a brother, James (Brenda) Williams of Columbus; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Williams was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur and Mary Williams.
The funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Father Clem Davis officiating.
Family and friends may gather for visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 12:30 p.m. until service time Tuesday at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
