Eligible Jennings County High School seniors who attended Hayden Elementary School and are planning to attend college or a vocation trade school have several scholarships available for which they can apply.
Applications can be picked up in the high school guidance office and need to be returned by March 12.
The scholarships that are available are:
Apphia Wohrer Gerth Memorial Scholarship: Applicants must be admitted to a college, junior college, technical or trade school. Given to a senior who had been a member of the Hayden Little Hoosier Historians while attending Hayden Elementary School. Award consists of a plaque and a cash award of $250.
Pat Sullivan/Rodger Ruddick Honorary Scholarship: Applicants for this award must be admitted to a college, junior college, technical or trade school, and must have attended four years or more at Hayden Elementary School. Award consists of a plaque and a cash award of $500.
Michael Euler Memorial Scholarship: Applicants must be admitted to a college, junior college, technical or trade school, and have attended four or more years at Hayden Elementary School. Award consists of a plaque and a cash award of $800.
Martha M. Vogel Memorial Scholarship: Applicants must be admitted to a college, junior college, technical or trade school, and have attended four or more years at Hayden Elementary School. A plaque and $500 will be awarded to two recipients.
John and Alice Wohrer Memorial Scholarship: For former Hayden Elementary students. Given to a senior who had attended four or more years at Hayden Elementary School. Preference will be given to the applicant will has been admitted to a college or junior college with the intention of gaining a degree in the field of education. Award consists of a plaque and a cash award of $1,500.
Edward and Marjorie Kehrt Memorial Scholarship: Applicants must be admitted to a college, junior college, technical or trade school, be a resident of Spencer Township and have attended four or more years at Hayden Elementary School. Award consists of a plaque and a cash award of $1,200.
Berneda Haines Ruddick and Everett Haines Scholarship: An incentive for students who wish to further their education after high school. Applicants must have attended fifth and sixth grades at Hayden Elementary. Priority will be given to former members of the Hayden Little Hoosier Historians history club. Applicants must be accepted at a college, university, junior college, professional, vocational or trade school. Award consists of a plaque and the cash amount of $10,500 per semester for four years as long as the student maintains his or her GPA during that time.
