Commission announces annual contests

The Columbus Human Rights Commission has announced the 2019 J. Irwin Miller Art Contest and the Benjamin M. King Essay Contest.

This year’s theme for the two student contests are "You Belong in Columbus." One winner will be selected for both contests in three divisions, grades five and six, grades seven and eight and grades nine through 12. Students may enter either contest, or both.

A panel of volunteer judges will anonymously select the winning entries. Winners receive a $100 award, an award-winning book and tickets to the Human Rights Commission annual dinner.

Deadline for submissions is 5 p.m. March 25. Volunteer judges are also needed to judge the contests. Contact the commission before March 18 if you wish to volunteer.
