Three Georgia residents arrested on preliminary charges of theft

Three Georgia residents have been arrested on preliminary charges of theft as the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department continues an investigation into other multiple theft reports around Indiana and other states.

The investigation began Tuesday night after reported theft and attempted theft incidents at hotels in Taylorsville and Columbus, with the suspects then being pursued into a neighboring county, officers said.

Two males, identified as Askari Greer, 27, Atlanta, Georgia, and Jacobey Nelson, 23, Forest Park, Georgia, were arrested, but Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department detectives believe they may have falsely identified themselves. Both are being held without bond in the Bartholomew County Jail on a preliminary charge of theft.

A female, identified as Tamecia James, 23, Atlanta, Georgia, was also arrested on a preliminary charge of theft, deputies said.

Deputies said this is an ongoing, multi-agency investigation that involves additional counties and possible other states. All three individuals are being held in jail on a 48-hour hold, deputies said.
